Introduction to Navigation Seminar

Today, electronics have radically changed navigation, but understanding the basics helps you gain confidence in your equipment and your own skills.

In this two-hour seminar, you’ll learn practical techniques to plan, navigate, and check your progress on the water. You will learn to use navigation tools to quickly point to your position on a chart using free software. This seminar gives you a start on learning how to navigate safely.

What's Included:

  • Understanding Nautical Charts

  • Waypoint Navigation Using a Chartplotter

  • Route planning using Chartplotter navigation software

  • Navigating underway

  • When things go wrong

  • After the seminar, we will email you a link to a "read-only" copy of the seminar PowerPoint slides.

The seminar will be presented by Andrew Whiteley, United States Power Squadron certified Boating Safety Instructor and Senior Navigator.  Andrew has sailed across the Atlantic ocean on his sailboat.
